How to Remove Spyware and Malware

Has this happened to you? You start up your computer and it is running very slowly. You give it a few minutes to fully boot up and start Internet Explorer. Before you know it, your web browser begins to open up multiple windows. You attempt to close them, but they keep coming. Then, advertisements for adult websites begin to pop up, one after another. You are unable to have any affect on what is happening so you shut down your computer using the off switch.

If this has happened to you, then your computer and Internet Explorer has been hijacked by spyware. When this happened to me, I began searching my hard drive for a new program or some file that seemed malicious that could be causing the problem. After an hour, I was unable to locate anything that could possibly be the culprit.

I did some research on the internet only to find thousands of web pages, all claiming to detect the spyware on my hard drive and quickly remove it. After an hour of this, I paid $80 for a well recommended spyware remover.  I was so excited and quickly installed and ran the software.

The program found an immense amount of what it identified as spyware or malicious software on my hard drive. I removed all of it, rebooted the system again, and ran another spyware search on the hard drive. The software found one more spyware program, but indicated that it was unable to remove it. What? How can this be. I looked for an update to my program, but none existed to combat this one file.

Herein is the problem. Many of these programs lag behind the malicious spyware that is on the Internet. I purchased yet another spyware program that was able to remove the software. Finally, my system was clean.

If you have spyware on your computer, choose your spyware remover carefully. Carefully review the claims that the software manufacturer makes. How frequently does the program update its spyware definitions? Go to community message boards and read what people are saying about the program you are considering purchasing. Do they offer a guarantee?

There are many effective spyware removers on the market. As long as you do your homework, you can find one that is reliable and effective. Once you remove your spyware, invest in a virus protection program, and firewall to reduce the chances of new spyware programs form gaining access to your computer.
