By now, it is common knowledge that Adware is a type of advertising supported software that automatically downloads, displays or plays advertisements while the software is in use. Some adware reports your internet surfing habits and other personal information back to the developer. This turns seemingly harmless adware into spyware that invades your privacy.
The advertising functionality is built into the software. Adware is a method for the developer to recover the development costs with the revenues from the advertising. If the user chooses to register the product and pay the fee, then he has the option to turn the ads off.

As there is not one computer user who would willingly download spyware on their computer, it would make sense that adware is a bad thing as well.
